Locls Club ("we", "us", "our") operates locls.club, a community-powered surf report service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
We keep it simple: we collect only what we need to run the service, we don't sell your data, and we don't send marketing messages.
When you text us a surf report:
- Phone number: Your mobile phone number, used to receive your reports and send confirmations
- Message content: The surf report you send us
- Timestamp: When you sent the message
When you visit our website:
- Analytics data: Basic usage statistics (page views, general location) via Vercel Analytics
We do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal information unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., by emailing us).
Phone numbers are used to:
- Receive your surf reports
- Send you a confirmation that we received your report
- Occasionally ask follow-up questions about your specific report
- Display your report on our website (phone number is masked, showing only last 4 digits)
We do NOT use your phone number to:
- Send marketing messages or promotions
- Send alerts or notifications you didn't request
- Share with third parties for their marketing purposes
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers: We use Twilio for SMS and Vercel for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.
Your surf reports (the message content) may be displayed publicly on our website to help other surfers, but your phone number is always masked (e.g., "Local Surfer ...1234").
Surf reports are retained for up to 6 hours on our website display. After that, they are removed from the active display but may be retained in our database for your personal Surf Diary feature.
You can request deletion of your data by emailing griffin@punk-ventures.com.
You have the right to:
- Opt out: Text STOP to (855) 514-7462 to stop receiving messages
- Access your data: View your past reports in the Surf Diary
- Delete your data: Email us to request deletion
